Naxos Records to Release Upcoming Kantorei Recording

Kantorei, a Denver metro region-based choir, announced that it has signed with Naxos Records to release its upcoming recording of works by Norwegian composer Kim André Arnesen. The project was funded in part by Kantorei’s “30/30/30” campaign, a crowdfunding initiative which created a seed fund for the project. The Arnesen project will be Kantorei’s first professionally-produced recording. The CD will be available to the public in the 2017 winter holiday season.

The project was recorded by Grammy-award-winning producer Blanton Alspaugh and engineer John Newton, both  of Soundmirror. Says Alspaugh, “Joel Rinsema and Kantorei sang a challenging program of new music with insight and style. It was a rewarding collaboration for all of us.”

Kantorei’s Artistic Director, Joel Rinsema, says that  “Kantorei is honored to release its first professional recording with Naxos. As the world’s leading classical music label, Naxos’ commitment to providing the best possible access to recorded classical music in the world, provides Kantorei the opportunity to expand its artistic reach to a global audience.  As a rising star in the choral world, Kim André Arnesen composes music that is heartfelt and filled with artistic and emotional integrity. Audiences around the world will be moved by our performances of his fresh and unique writing.”

Arnesen is similarly thrilled about the project, saying “I have always been a great fan of the releases by Naxos. I am excited to now have an upcoming album released by them. And with the fantastic ensemble from Denver, Kantorei and Joel Rinsema, who I have had the honor of working with as a composer-in-residence, I believe we have created something that many will appreciate. I am especially looking forward to presenting some world premiere recordings on this album.”
